The Brandywine Pool is our fantastic neighborhood pool. Within easy walking distance!

The Brandywine Pool is our fantastic neighborhood pool. Within easy walking distance!

The photo shows the baby pool -- the pool itself is MUCH larger! We also have shaded pavilions for a really enjoyable time.

The information below was from our Spring newsletter.  The pool did open but was limited to lap swim. Events are still limited, due to limitations on the number of people who may gather together. Stay healthy, my friends!

We hope our Brandywine community remains safe and healthy. We are actively working on the challenges surrounding the start of the 2020 pool season and continue to monitor all state, local, and CDC guidelines on social distancing. All plans and preparations are on track to ensure the pool is ready to open for the 2020 season as scheduled on Saturday, May 23. However, Virginia's current requirements for social distancing run through June 10. Therefore, the pool board has implemented the following adjustments in the event our opening is delayed:

  • Early Bird discount for returning members extended to June 1st -- The early bird discount deadline is extended for returning members to June 1 or the day before opening, whichever is later. Renew by June 1 and save $30.
  • Membership credit for families if pool opening is delayed until June 10 -- If the pool's opening is delayed until June 10, all family memberships (new or returning) paid by June 9, 2020 will receive a $10 credit towards their 2021 dues. (Note: This is in addition to the early bird discount for returning families.)
  • Pro-rated dues if opening is delayed beyond June 10 -- We must continue to pay our pool management company regardless of when the pool opens for the season. Additionally, our membership dues are extremely competitive -- we have not raised our fees in six years -- and the 2020 pool season includes one additional week of swimming due to the calendar cycle that includes an early Memorial Day and late Labor Day. Therefore, we will not prorate our annual dues unless the season is delayed beyond the current projection of June 10. If current social distancing requirements are extended beyond June 10 and we are unable to open the pool until a later date, we will pro-rate all memberships on a weekly basis beginning with the week of June 14.

We have a lot planned for you this summer, from weekly corn hole tournaments to our 2nd annual Brandywine's Got Talent, to Casino Night, dive-in movies, and more! If allowed by Fairfax County to open and operate, be assured the pool will be ready. In the meantime, please check our new website and this member e-newsletter regularly for updates on opening day, and details on membership options, swim classes, and social events. As always, please feel free to contact our board with any questions or concerns. Until we are able to come together as a community, please stay safe and well!
