Playground Project

It's time to start fundraising!

Our goal is to reach $22,000 by March 2015. Once we reach $22,000, we will apply for grants that will match our contribution. If all goes as expected, then we will be getting a new playground installed in late Spring 2015 by the Fairfax County Park Authority worth $133,000! Note that if we don't reach our goal, then the proposed playground mock-up will be downgraded to match our contribution. Let's start fundraising and get the best playground for our children and grandchildren to enjoy for years to come.

The playground project is in full swing! If all goes as planned, then we will have our new playground in Surrey Square 1 (aka Turtle Park) by late Spring 2015.

Our next step is to begin fundraising. With your help and support, we know we can reach our goal of $22,000 by March 2015. In exchange for our $22,000 and the matching funds we except to receive through grants, we will be getting a state of the art playground worth $133,000!

Thanks.

Now that the community has decided to remove the current equipment (minus the turtle - the turtle stays!) and the trees in Surrey Square 1 aka the tot lot at the top of our neighborhood near Braddock Road, our next step is to provide feedback to the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) as to the new type of playground equipment we'd like to see in the space.

Once we provide direction, the FCPA will come back to us with a concept, time frame, and approximate cost to implement our vision. They will make revisions based on space, fall zones, regulations, etc.

If you are interested in providing your feedback, then please take a look at the GameTime website which is the playground equipment vendor for Fairfax County - http://www.gametime.com/playground-equipment/

You can also request a free catalog - http://www.gametime.com/catalog-request/

We are looking for feedback of all kinds. Anything and everything is helpful. If you want to provide a link to a piece of playground equipment you like or a certain page in the catalog, then please also include the reason why you like it. This is a great time to involve your children and/or grandchildren so let us know what they think too. We have met with some neighborhood parents and their children throughout this process, but the more feedback we can get from the kids the better!

Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your thoughts by March 31st.

Now that the comment period for providing feedback for the playground options on the parkland in our neighborhood has ended, it is time to share the results.

Please join us Tuesday, February 25th at 7:00 pm at the Korean Church.

After this meeting, the OFSS Civic Association will send a letter to the Fairfax County Park Authority with our consensus.
