On Saturday, July 25, 2015, we unveiled the new incarnation of the Turtle Playground.  A true partnership between Community and County as the end result of hard work and dedication ended up with a beautiful new playground for the Olde Forge/Surrey Square neighborhood.

We are making all of the final preparations for the big OF/SS 50th Birthday event next Saturday. Here are the details:

 2:45 -- Line-up at the pool parking lot for the parade

Cars (convertibles), bikes, strollers, scooters, skateboards, etc. decorated for birthday party. Original Owners and invited guests will be in the head cars (still need more cars)

Grills will be fired up to start cooking for the picnic (grillers needed)

3:00 -- Parade begins.

We will parade from the pool to Nan Mill and back. Parade route is already lined with the glorious display of American flag Birthday balloons will be added to the mailboxes of residents along the route on Saturday am. Need volunteers to manage traffic at corner of Helenwood/Pickett and Pickett/Nan Mill.

3:00 - 6:00 -- Picnic and birthday cake

Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Chips, Soda and of course - birthday cake! Displays of our history will be on hand.

Our VIPs - our original and near-original owners will be on hand to share stories. All photos and artifacts welcome.

Pool will be open for swimming until 9pm.

All are welcome to use the pool. Membership forms will be on hand for those who wish to join. Note that this is a FREE event that is open to all residents and guests of the OF/SS neighborhood. Your Civic Association dues are helping to defray the cost. (Hint to renew!)
